CONTINUING THE HEAVY ROCK DYNASTY, WALKING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF THE GODS, COME AUSTRALIA'S

TOO LONG HAS HEAVINESS AND CLASS BEEN DEVOID IN THE MUSIC SCENE, BUT ALL THAT IS ABOUT TO CHANGE.

FORMED IN ADELAIDE, SOUTH AUSTRALIA IN THE SUMMER OF '99, WHEN GUITARIST DARREN WILSON AND BASS PLAYER STEVE ANDERSON, BOTH DISILLUSIONED WITH THE CURRENT MUSICAL CROP, DECIDED TO PUT TOGETHER A NEW UNIT WHICH COMBINED CLASS, POWER, MELODY AND MUSICIANSHIP. AFTER GETTING TOGETHER FOR SONGWRITING SESSIONS THEY RECORDED THE BASIS FOR A DEMO USING THE AID OF A DRUM MACHINE. THE ADDITION OF DRUMMER BOB HUTTON WAS MADE TOWARDS THE MIDDLE OF 1999 AND THE BAND WENT ABOUT THE SEARCH FOR A LEAD VOCALIST WHILE REHEARSING MATERIAL FOR A LIVE SET.

AFTER PLACING MANY ADVERTISEMENTS AND THE NORMAL AUDITIONING PROCESS, THE MISSING LINK WAS FOUND IN THE GUISE OF KEN SINCLAIR, VOCALIST.

KEN LAID DOWN THE VOCAL TRACKS FOR THE LONG RECORDED DEMO WHICH WAS CONVERTED INTO MP3 FILES AND POSTED ON THE WORLDS BIGGEST INDEPENDENT MUSIC SITE, MP3.COM. THE 3 SONGS, NEXT BIG THING, MASTERPLAN AND CROWN OF THORNS, GAINED GOOD HIT NUMBERS AND PROVIDED THE OPPORTUNITY FOR LISTENERS TO DOWNLOAD ORIGINAL QUALITY VERSIONS OF THE SONGS AS WELL AS THE STREAMING ONLINE OPTION FOR IMMEDIATE PLAY. REQUESTS FROM INTERNATIONAL MELODIC ROCK WEBSITES WERE MADE FOR ANY DEMOS AND BAND DETAILS PROVING THE BENEFITS OF USING THE INTERNET FOR WORLDWIDE EXPOSURE.

AT THE END OF '99 THE BAND HAD AMASSED A COLLECTION OF ORIGINAL MATERIAL AND DECIDED TO HIT THE ADELAIDE LIVE SCENE BY PLAYING AS MANY SHOWS AS IT COULD, ANYWHERE, ANYWAY. THE SONGS WERE GENERALLY WELL RECEIVED, SURPRISING A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH THE QUALITY OF MUSICIANSHIP WITHIN THE BAND. WITH MOST BANDS GOING AROUND TODAY DISPLAYING A CERTAIN 'LOOSENESS' TO THEIR SOUND, OTHERWORLD PRIDE THEMSELVES IN CREATING A TIGHT UNIT WITH EACH INSTRUMENT HAVING A PLACE IN IT'S OWN RIGHT, EASILY DISTINGUISHABLE FROM THE OTHER.

THE SONG WRITING PROCESS CONTINUED, NOW WITH BOTH KEN AND BOB CONTRIBUTING, WHILE LIVE SHOWS CONTINUED INTO THE YEAR 2000. IN MAY THE BAND ENTERED FISHSHOP STUDIO TO RECORD A LIVE DEMO OF 4 ORIGINAL SONGS AND 3 COVERS WHICH THEY WERE TO USE FOR PROMOTIONAL PURPOSES AND TO AID IN SECURING GIGS. AGAIN THE BAND USED THE NET AND HAD THE SONGS PLACED ON MP3.COM.

OTHERWORLD BEGAN GIGGING FURIOUSLY, BUILDING A BAND FUND WHICH WOULD BE USED TO PUT TOGETHER THEIR DEBUT ALBUM,

CONSTANT GIGS AND CONTINUED SONGWRITING HAD PUT THE BAND IN A POSITION WHERE THEY HAD SOME STRONG SONGS WORTHY OF RECORDING UNDER THE BEST CIRCUMSTANCES SO THIS HAD BECOME THE FOREMOST GOAL OF THE BAND.

OTHERWORLD ENTERED THE STUDIO IN NOVEMBER 2000 AND BEGAN THE RECORDING PROCESS. THE BAND FACED MANY CHALLENGES AND DISAPPOINTMENTS DURING THIS JOURNEY BUT BELIEVES IT HAS PRODUCED A QUALITY PRODUCT THAT WILL INTEREST THE FAN OF THE HEAVY ROCK GENRE . THE DEBUT ALBUM, 'MONUMENT TO THE END OF TIME' WAS FINALLY RELEASED IN MID 2001 CONTAINING 10 SONGS.

THROUGHOUT THE LAST PART OF 2001, OTHERWORLD STARTED TO PROMOTE THE ALBUM BY POSTING MP3'S ON THE HEAVY ROCK RADIO SITE KNAC.COM, MP3.COM AND AUSTRALIA'S SISTER SITE MP3.COM.AU. THESE SONGS GATHER GOOD HIT NUMBERS WITH THE SONG 'EVERYTHING AND NOTHING' HITTING THE NUMBER ONE SPOT ON THE HEAVY ROCK CHART. THE BAND HAS ALSO GAINED AIRPLAY ON AUSTRALIA-WIDE HEAVY RADIO PROGRAM, 'THREE HOURS OF POWER' ON TRIPLE J AND ON POWERSURGE ON ADELAIDE'S 3D RADIO.

POSITIVE REVIEWS HAVE BEEN POSTED ON BOTH THE GUITAR9 INTERNET SITE AND IN ADELAIDE'S NEWSPAPER, THE ADVERTISER AS WELL AS VARIOUS OTHER INTERNET BASED 'WEBZINES'. DURING 2002 THE BAND PLANS TO BE REVIEWED IN MANY MORE OF THE LEADING HEAVY ROCK PUBLICATIONS.

IN EARLY 2002, VOCALIST KEN SINCLAIR LEFT THE BAND AND OTHERWORLD BEGAN THE LONG ARDUOUS SEARCH FOR A REPLACEMENT. IN MAY, 2002, THEY DECIDED TO CONTACT A LOCAL VOCALIST NAMED MYKYLL BREND, WHO THE BAND HAD SEEN PLAYING AT A SHOW AT THE GASLIGHT TAVERN WHICH OTHERWORLD HAD ALSO BEEN A PART OF. AT THE TIME THEY HAD BEEN IMPRESSED WITH MYKYLL'S VOCALS AND STAGE MANNER BUT, NOT FORSEEING WHAT WAS TO COME IN THE DEPARTURE OF KEN, THE BAND LEFT IT AT THAT. IT WAS ONLY DURING THE SEARCH FOR A REPLACEMENT THAT MYKYLL'S NAME KEPT CROPPING UP, SO OTHERWORLD DECIDED TO APPROACH BREND AND SEE WHAT HE WAS UP TO WITH A VIEW OF RECRUITING HIM INTO THE BAND. OTHERWORLD MADE CONTACT THRU HIS PREVIOUS BAND'S WEBSITE AND HE AGREED TO COME DOWN FOR A JAM. BOTH PARTIES WERE HAPPY WITH WHAT EVENTUATED AT THIS SEMINAL GET-TOGETHER AND HAVE DECIDED TO WORK TOGETHER AND SEE WHAT COMES OF IT....

FOR THE FUTURE, THE BAND WILL BE SEEKING DISTRIBUTION FOR THE DEBUT ALBUM BUT WILL ALSO BE PUTTING IT OUT THERE INDEPENDENTLY. FURTHER DETAILS CAN BE FOUND IN THESE PAGES AT OUR ALBUM LINK. OTHERWORLD WOULD ALSO LIKE TO RECORD MATERIAL WRITTEN AFTER THE RECORDING OF THE DEBUT CD AND WILL ALSO BE RE-WRITING THE LYRICS AND MELODIES PREVIOUSLY WORKED ON BY KEN. FURTHER DETAILS CAN BE FOUND IN THESE PAGES AT OUR ALBUM LINK.

TRY AND CATCH OTHERWORLD AT A VENUE NEAR YOU.
